For this assignment I will discuss and evaluate the improvements to computer systems achieved by routine housekeeping procedures and the benefits. Listed below is what I shall be discussing. - Physical cleaning - Disk Defragment - Virus Scanning - Disk Clean up - Disk Checker - Windows updates Physical Cleaning Physical cleaning means that you will clean the keyboard, mouse, computer screen and check for any errors such as stuck or missing keys on the PCs keyboard. This process involves cleaning the chassis of the machine and also looking for dust inside. You will use compressed air to help you clear up the dust inside. - You will use compressed air to clean within the computer chassis and the internal components. You will†¦show more content†¦This will prevent issues in the long run and stop your data being corrupted. Furthermore, defragment will also increase the performance of the computer system and that physical cleaning improves the environment of the computer and also prevents long term issues such as crashing and over heating. Disk Clean up This is a computer maintenance utility which is provided by windows which frees up disk space on a hard drive. This cleans up temp files, internet cache file; recycle bin and any other unnecessary items. This utility does it safely. Advantage - Speeds up computer - Cleans machine for un needed files - Safely removes files - Frees up space Disadvantage - Can take time - Can delete files in recycle bin which you may not want deleted Effectiveness This will clean the computer for junk files. This is effective during maintenance as it speeds up the computer and also saves space. By running this task once a week or so, will help speed up the PC and free up space. This will help the computer operate much more effectively. Also instead of searching the computer manually for the temp file then the history file, this utility will operate all in one place and also does it safely. Conclusion I would recommend running this as it speeds up the computer and will free up space on the Hard disk.
